20 Fitness Motivational Quotes to get you going
I have a confession to make. Around April 2014 I began having issues with fitness motivation. (Insert gasp!) I know, how can the writer of a fitness blog have issues with fitness motivation? The following are the reasons why I believe I fell off the fitness wagon.
1) I stopped dancing. Being apart of the Minnesota Vikings Cheerleaders Training Program was such a great way to stay in shape. Between practices, training resources provided to my team, and the fact that we were encouraged to maintain our fitness levels for MVC auditions, I was not lacking fitness motivation in any way.
2) I moved from Minnesota to New Mexico. Learning a new city and getting established took time and energy. My established fitness routine with my favorite Discover Strength trainers was derailed.
3) I started my own business and became a fitness instructor. Between putting pressure on myself to work many hours, and not wanting to stop working because I was “in the zone”, I often skipped workouts.
4) Kyle and I made the decision to move to Thailand. This is point number 2 x 100.
I let myself down
As I slowly watched my body morph into something I disliked I became harder on myself, but didn’t change anything. Duh, that doesn’t make sense! By not making fitness a priority I was letting myself down. Not too long ago I was in the best shape of my life, and I want that version of myself back! Not only did I feel amazing and look fantastic, but I also felt powerful and motivated to be the best me in every aspect of my life.
My new fitness motivation has come from a few different places: 1) I’ve established a fitness routine at my new gym. 2) Writing blog posts, adding resistance band exercises to “Pop a Bead”, working on the fitGevity social media pages – especially Pinterest, and researching fitness related topics has surrounded me with positive fitness vibes that make me want to work harder. 3) I came across a picture of myself at the peak of my fitness levels, and I won’t stop until I reach that point again!
So how am I doing with my fitness now?
It’s like a light bulb switched on. I feel back to my ass kicking self, and there’s no better feeling than that! I can’t wait to tryout the new fitness techniques and healthy recipes I find, and I feel excited for my workouts versus feeling like it’s a chore. I’m also starting to see positive changes in my body. I might have a ways to go, but I’m on the right track to getting my body back to where I want it to be.
